Minor fire damages Building II
On Monday, March 19, a fire was contained to the laundry room in Building II at Ecumenical Retirement Community in Harrisburg. While fire damage was minimal, the building sustained smoke damage as well as water damage from the sprinkler system. The sprinkler system was activated instantly and extinguished the fire within seconds. Though the fire was extinguished, the fire department was called as part of the protocol.
The building houses residents receiving personal care services. Due to the smoke, residents were evacuated to other buildings on the Ecumenical Retirement Community campus where they enjoyed activities and meals until they returned to their apartments. No injuries were sustained during the incident.
