Ecumenical Retirement Community’s Annual Tree Lighting Kicks Off the Holidays
The sights and sounds of the Christmas season were on full display at the 2024 Tree Lighting celebration. This annual event welcomed neighbors from the community to Ecumenical’s campus to kick off the holiday season with our residents. Santa Claus did the honors of officially lighting the 12-foot tree at the center of the campus grounds.
“We look forward to this event every year because it is a perfect opportunity to introduce prospective residents and their families to our community but also just have fun together as a family,” said Treva Nell, Director of Marketing and Admissions. “The night is proof that there is no age limit for Christmas magic!”
To get everyone in the festive spirit, the Ecumenical Resident Choir performed Christmas carols, guests roasted s’mores over open fires and there was plenty of hot chocolate to go around. Throughout the evening, Santa also took note of what everyone wanted for Christmas this year.
Many members of the community were involved in making this a memorable event, including Messiah University students in the Consumer Behavior class. Five students from the class selected Ecumenical Retirement Community as the non-profit organization they are supporting with marketing tactics during the fall semester. The group created the flyer for the event and learned about the importance of using the brand’s colors to create something that brings out the family and community feel of the event and organization.
“This was such a good learning experience for us because we were able to act as if Ecumenical was a real client and able to bring our education to help,” described Messiah University senior Emma Walt. “It gave us creative freedom to practice on a company before going into the real world.”
